Michael has spent a huge amount of his life dedicated to the arts with a huge bio of performances in musical theatre. Michael celebrates 30 years of treading the boards in 2022, having originally trained at Stratford upon Avon arts school. Michael has performed all over the UK, but mainly in the heartlands of Birmingham, including performances at the Birmingham Hippodrome, Alexandra theatre, The Birmingham Rep and numerous roles in local theatres in and around Solihull including a plethora of musicals at the Solihull Core theatre.
Michael has been involved in many workshop musicals including “ 3 Summers” in the main role of Freddie Savage written by Euan Rose and performing on the original concept albums for “Shirt and Tie” and “Picture this picture life” written by Stuart Jones for Gap music.
Michael’s love for radio broadcasting started with guest presenting with Stuart Jones on his radio show. In 2016 Michael joined Balsall Radio with his first ever theatre show and soon gandered a following with his guests from local theatres and West End guests, where he stayed for 2 years until the radio station disbanded. In 2019 Michael created a products season called “keeping the light win in musical theatre” this allowed Michael to have 1 hour podcasts from a range of directors, producers, writes and actors from UK’s theatre seen. This podcast season brought about him returning to radio in October launching “The Musical theatre show”.
Michael is thrilled and delighted to have been given the opportunity to move his show to us at ‘On Your Radio Solihull’. Michael said of his move “I always want to be around passion and supportive people of what you do and giving and celebrating your energy within a great team. This opportunity came up and it was an easy decision for me to showcase my passion for theatre with On Your Radio Solihull, who have been nothing but supportive of where I want to take the show for the future, supporting younger actors, writers, directors to get their music out their, to build on equality and cultural celebration of sharing all musicals equally and without bias”.
Michael is an accomplished drag artist “Chardonnay Chantellez” performing as a compere and live singer at events and corporate occasions.
Michael filmed for a six part ballroom series “Secret life of the ballroom” in 2017 and recently filmed as Australian manager Michael Browning in a documentary series about ACDC.
Michael’s joyous personality landed him a judging spot for Birmingham Ultra ballroom who raise thousands for Cancer Research UK and since then has been asked to be a regular head judge across many strictly events across the UK.
